Fadista Maria de F átima was born 1961 in Lisbon, Portugal. She began her professional music career when she was 12 years old and released her first album. In the following years she made another three albums. At the age of 14 Maria de F átima won the “Grand Noite de Fado”, one of the the most wanted and important awards in the Fado-world. In Portugal she shared the stage with the greatest Fado-artists, like Amalia Rodriques, Jorge Fernando and Camané. She performed at the prestigious Maria Victoria Theater , for radio en TV, also in several Casinos' in Portugal .

The last 20 years Maria de Fátima lives in Amsterdam , The Netherlands where she performs in theatres and big venues like the Royal Concertgebouw ( sold out ! ) in Amsterdam and the Vredenburg Musicentre in Utrecht . Besides that she gives international shows in France , Belgium , Luxembourg and Germany . Over the years thousands of people enjoyed her concerts and Maria de Fátima became one of the most respected fadistas operating from out of Portugal .

In 2002 Maria de F átima was asked for a special CD- project named ROSÁRIO. This resulted in the album ‘FOI DEUS', which contains a surprising combination of traditional fado with folk- and new-age elements. It was released in The Netherlands and Portugal and received some very good comments in the press.

In 2004 she was invited to be a special guest at the ‘Noite de Fado' concerts in Holland with Helder Moutinho and Joana Amendoeira. August 2004 the FADO VIVO was released, which represents a live registration of the concerts she gave with her new band in the spring of 2004 in the Netherlands . According to press-reviews the album made clear the Maria de Fátima can compete with the great fadistas from Portugal and established her qualities on an international level.

In September 2006 Maria de Fátima and her band went to Portugal for their new album ALMA (label: Coast to Coast). It was recorded in the famous Pé de Vente-studio , where fadistas like Mariza, Ana Moura and Cristina Branco made their best work. The famous singer / producer Helder Moutinho produced the album together with the young guitar virtuoso Diogo Clemente who took also care of some of the arrangements. Besides the excellent musicians of her own band some of the best Portugese Fado-players were invited to contribute. Most of the songs are Maria's all time favorites of Amália Rodrigues, but she also wrote two own songs for the album. This resulted in a beautiful classic-fado CD which the Dutch leading World-Music magazine HEAVEN describes as “ the best fado-album of 2006 “

Her new theatreshow 2006-2007 in Holland will be a tribute to the work & life of the great Amália Rodrigues. Over 30 concerts are booked !
